Compaq presario cq40

I brought this laptop 2 months back. when i am putting some CD's the DVD drive icon in the my computer is vanishing and not able to read the this. after this the laptop won't shut down in the normal way. but some CD's are working properly without any problem. kindly advice a solution for this problem.
