Repair of Machine

I bought a machine about a year back and when sent complain the engineers did not come until the guarantee period was over. Now they are asking for charges for repair, almost 65% of machine cost. They have the machine and are asking for additional charges. The machine was in 3 year warranty period, which is meaning less. This company really needs to improve customer service.
