Sub: Poor Infrastructure / Amenities in Block 60 of Old Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi-60

Respected Madam,

I, Anand Keshri, the Joint Secretary of the Resident Welfare Association of Block 60, Old Rajinder Nagar, on behalf of all the residents of our Block, would like to bring to your kind notice about the pathetic situation of the Block.

1. The residents of our block are facing severe problem due to the accumulation of rain water in the block. There is no proper drainage arrangement for the discharge of rainwater due to which water logging is quite common.

2. Ground / Surface of the open space in the middle of the block is totally damaged and it has hardly been repaired in the last three or four years. It requires repair as it has developed potholes and undulations, due to which residents are facing a lot of problems.

3. The sewer lines are chocked completely and the storm water drain is blocked with the silt and has not been clean since long. It is required to be cleaned immediately.

4. The sweeper hardly turns up for sweeping the area and at times when he comes also, he doesn’t clean it properly.

5. The scattered garbage and at every nuke and corner gives open invitation to already rising cases of various chronic diseases like H1-N1, Dengue, Cholera, Malaria, Plague etc.

6. The number of street dogs have grown drastically in the area. There have been instances of frequent Dog Bites in our society and people especially children and elderly citizens are afraid of coming out of the houses.

7. The residents of our block don’t get the bills of Delhi Jal Board regularly. Instances are there that residents have not received bills since last two years from DJB.

8. There have been instances of snatching (which has gone un-reported to the police) in the area as the street lights don’t function properly and there is complete darkness in front of road facing plot nos.60/1 to 60/7.

9. The Electricity Pole in the middle of the open space of our Block has bent to one side which can crumble any moment causing an accident due to electrocution.

10. The Street light installed by the Ex-Councillor Mr. Manjeet Singh Khanna in front of his office works more as a personal street light rather than being used for the benefits of citizens.

11. For the beautification of the block (and alarming global warming), the residents of our block want the government to plant vertical trees in our block.

12. The lowering of water table in Delhi and the wastage of rain water / storm runoff going unutilized to the storm water drain is a matter of concern. We residents of Block 60, Old Rajinder would appreciate if the government provides us technical and financial support for the implementation of the rain water harvesting system in our society.

We therefore request you to listen our VOICE and take some measures to resolve the above issues so that our Block becomes fit for human habitation.

Your prompt action in this regard shall be highly appreciated by the voters of our block.

Thanking You.

Sincerely Yours,

Anand Keshri
