No meter based Auto / Taxi service in Chennai

While in all other metro cities auto and taxi services are provided as per the meter rate approved by the local authorities, why is it not implemented in Chennai.

No Auto / Taxi service is available in Chennai as per meter. All charge flat rates which is very much high when compared to othe metro cities, even though the fuel price difference is not considerable amount.

Kindly look into this and bring a releif to all those daily commuters.
