Irresponsible response from Service Contracto

I purchased a Eureka Forbes water purifier in the year 2005.

An AMC was made on 27/12 valid up to 27/12. When the contract was made they confirmed that the filter would be replaced every year, but before the expiry of the contract I requested the service contractor to replace the filter to which he replied with a big NO. I was really surprised with the reponse from the service contractor in spite of a valid maintenance contract.
