Non receipt of funds lying in family pension to the nominee

'My father Subhas J Borkar 1254, had served the bank for more than 33 years. After his death my mother Sushma S Borkar took pension for almost 2 years 10 months. Now my mother expired on 14th July.

I approached Canara Bank, Dahisar East Branch for settlement of the proceeds.

Fixed deposit was due on 25th July.

I approached the official, he gave me death claim form and asked to submit cheques book and passbook along with id proof. I went back and handed over the same to him.

He then told me that he cannot keep the papers with him in case the papers are misplaced. Further he told me that I should sent letter along with the necessary papers to canara bank employees pension fund at Bangalore.

It seems to me that he was totally indifferent to the person sitting opposite him. I told him that I cannot come often as I am also working and it is difficult to take leave for 10-15 mins work.

Then I approached the branch manager, who said that he would sent mail and inform me as soon as the sanction comes which neither the officer did nor the branchmanager.

I called up after 10 days, branch manager told me that sanction had come.

I again took leave on 28th august and approached the officer. He told me that sanction has come but they have given credit for august month. How can pension be credited if the person is not alive,

Is there no way of reversing the wrong credit given or no will to help.

Further, the concerned officer went on leave, the Branch Manager told me to wait till that officer comes and resumes the duty. This is the reply given by the Branch Manager then what can one expect from the other staff.

The services and attitute of the entire staff needs to be changed. My father used to be always proud of his Canara Bank. Right from my childhood I have heard him saying always good about his bank. He used to punctual and serve the customers to satisfaction. But this essence is lacking in todays staff including the Branch Manager.

Hoping that they atleast start giving reasonable service to their own ex-staff leave alone the customers.

Let them not forget that the way they treat today ex staff and pension holders, they are the ones who will be the next to receive.
