Anomalies in supply of dmestic LPG

Sir,

May I apprise to your kind self that the undersigned is a consumer (No. 37654) of Gobind Gas Power Company, Rau Club Building, Burdwan. For the past few months it is being observed that the average time period for supply of a domestic LPG has become erratic. The customer care centre of the agency is functioning perfunctorily and I have to make four/ five calls each month to ensure the doorstep delivery. I put forward the following concerns for your kind consideration and taking necessary action please.

1) For the past three months the agency is taking more than 35 days to deliver the gas. Booking made on 23/07/09 is yet to be disposed of. Your kind self would appreciate a customer is supposed to receive his/ her refill within 21 days of requisition, if not earlier.

2) On 22/08/09, I lodged a complaint with the agency. Ironically, the complaint register does not bear any name, page certificate, page serial number or for that matter any semblance of a government register. Your kind self would appreciate that the complaint register must be available only for the asking and a notice in this regard must be displayed at a conspicuous place. Unfortunately, these essentialities were conspicuous by their absence.

3) Before lodging the complaint I demanded the authorities to explain me the distribution mechanism followed for supply of the LPG to the consumers. My request was turned down on the plea that I was not the competent authority. I suppose that a strong internal audit system must be in place to check any sort of malpractice.

I would request your kind self to ensure that the in-built checks and balances are thoroughly applied in case of LPG agencies. Any lapses on this count may have far reaching consequences as the commoners would be at the receiving end. There is every apprehension that the agency is fudging the records and thereby depriving the customers their due. A thorough examination of its records would only vindicate my position.

And this is a strain on the already exhausted common man. Your kind self would further appreciate that erratic supply of LPG followed by non-availability of other source of domestic fuel has only aggravated the position of the common man. Allegations of hoarding, black marketing etc by the agencies are not few and far between. In fact, such un-scrupulous elements are creating artificial crisis in the supply system, thereby stoking fire for the possibilities of yet another crisis after the ‘Ration Riot’ of 2007.
