De-activation of Third Party Transfer Facility without proper intimation

I have been a customer of HDFC Bank for more than 5 years and have been using Net Banking and Third Party Transfer regularly.
Due to my work i have to constantly be out of the country and during one of such vists outside for a couple of months HDFC changed its policy that they will be dicontinuing the TPT facility if i dont register for a SECURE ACCESS which is a new security procedure.
When i logged in to access my TPT last week i found that it has been deactivated. On writing to HDFC i get the response that they had sent me as SMS on 6th November '08 asking me to register by 15th Novem'08 (1 week) now as i was out of the country my number was not active and i didnt get the message. I didnt get any e-mail from them to this effect.
As i dint get the message then it isnt my fault that i didnt re-register for a facility which i am using for quite some time. They tell me that i need to VISIT a branch or Courier my documents for registering AGAIN.
My issue is that i am out of the country and cant visit a branch right now and i need the TPT facility urgently, i suggested i can scan and send docs instead of incurring unnecessary courier expenses for which they comnpletely non chanlantly said is not acceptable!!!
Now my complaint is that what right has HDFC to deactivate a service due to a change in policy without proper intimation?
I like the fact that HDFC is taking steps to increase security for its customers but does HDFC bank believe that all its customers have no right to be in accesible on their mobiles for sometime and has no right to travel?
Quite interesting i must say for a customer serice oriented Bank!
