I had purchased some product in the month of 2008 (do not remember the month) for around 850/-. As i had changed my address I had also placed a request for the change of address before the purchase. As i had not received the statement the payment was made by week delay, for which i had called up the customer care officer and told him the reason to waive of the money and made the payment. Later on also i was not receiving the statments to my address.
In december one person has called for hdfc credit card (sales) through him again i placed a change of communication address. My card got expired inthe Jan/Feb for which i didnt received the replacement card as well.
Today i got a call from Customer care of HDFC bank of Indira Nagar branch of Bangalore a female for the payment of around 6500/-(not sure what for) and she claims that it is for the late payment of my last purchase (850/-) and subsequent interest charges. She was very rude and telling that they will proceed legally against me, etc.
How can the bank charge some interest like this after confirming to the customer. and now they are telling that I have not made a call to them at all regarding this issue. Please assist in resolving this
