I, Ms Sahana Gupta (residing in Bangalore. had hired a maid called Ms Jyotsna Haldar from a maid agency Hindoli Placement, New Alipore (Address: 370/2, Block-K, New Alipore, Kolkata: 700053, on March 25th, to take care of my 3.5 yrs child. The contact person in the placement was Ms Rutika Basak and her employee Ms Madhumita Sardar. The contract from the agency is for one year. (contract is enclosed)

Ms Jyotsna Haldar who met me two days ago in my Kolkata residence (159/1A, Rash Behari Avenue, Kolkata:700029) for few minutes, said that she will be able to take the responsibilities of child care and domestic help.

She traveled on 25/3 for my Bangalore residence and stayed with us for 10days. As soon as she landed in Bangalore on 27/3, we could understand that she had no child care experience and she along with the agency had lied regarding this. We were willing to train her. But later we discovered that she was addicted to tobacco and spend long hours in the addiction in her room or in the bathroom. After the addiction, she would remain in trance. We reported the agency of the same and they denied her addiction, and asked us to give a warning. When we gave her a warning, she denied her addiction, and said that she brushes her teeth with tobacco etc. But after few days, we found her lying in the toilet addicted with tobacco. At the same time, she would remain silent and in the trance of tobacco and hardly respond to us or do her work seriously.

We complained to the agency and said that we would send her back, since we cannot keep her for a single more day with our children. She left Bangalore on 6th April and we paid off her wages for 10days.

The agency was informed and they agreed us to give another replacement within 7 days. The contract mentions that they will send a replacement within 15days. So we waited for more than 15 days. Now, it has been a month that they did not send a maid, or called us up regarding the same.

We asked the agency to return the money since they could not send a replacement within the promised timeframe and now they are not even returning the money. They say that the money is non-refundable, but the contract does not mention anything like that. They have been lying that they will send a new maid within a day or 2, but they have failed and have even lied for the work that the maid would do. My mother and my brother even visited their office in Kolkata, to whom they made a false promise and did not return the money. The quality of maids they sent was extremely bad and I would request you to ask them to refund the money (Rs5000) to us. We are no more interested to hire a maid from the agency who would not take any responsibility and hire maids.

For your information, I had even seen the voter id card of the maid which they sent, and the photo does not even match with the person they sent. I thing they are into forgery
