Unruly behaviour of Auto Drive

I had boarded the Auto on 19.11.2009 at 10 am (KA-03/A 7430; Auto Driver's name as printed in the sheet pasted inside auto: Puttaswamy) from Bangalore Majestic Bus stand to Satellite Bus station to catch a bus to Salem. While agreeing for the trip, Mr. Puttaswamy said that I have to pay as per the meter reading at the destination. On reaching the busstand, the digital meter showed Rs.60/-. When I tendered Rs.100/- note, he returned me just Rs.10/- saying that he would charge 1.5 times the meter reading. He took complete advantage of my inability to communicate in kannada.

When I cautioned him that I would lodge a police complaint, he said, "elli bekkithare hogu. Police nanna enu madakkahalla" Then he took his auto and moved away quickly from the bustsand entrance.

The driver is aware that I can not continue to live in Bangalore to follow up this complaint.

The very purpose of my complaint is to ensure that such fellows should be warned by police to protect the travellers. I trust that police department would take a note of my complaint and warn the driver to desist from this practice.
