The Dussehra-Diwali period marks heavy purchases for all families across India. This year, I thought to buy myself a Honda Unicorn.
What may still be ignored is the fact that the inventory management for Honda is absolutely out of order. There is a waiting period of 45 - 60 days post booking, for the delivery of your colour choice of a Honda Unicorn in Mumbai. Yes, I chose to ignore this, because I'm not a consumer yet. And the market is flooded with options.
However, this one particular dealer in Andheri [Indian Bike, Near Khandar Beer Bar, Opp Mishra Chawl, Andheri (E)], charges a staggering sum of Rs.72, 000 (minus the cost for accessories) for an immediate delivery of the brand in subject. People would pay just anything, and a sum of Rs.6, 000 (against the quoted price of 66, 000 something) would seem rather miniscule for some, but this is unethical practice.
The story gets better.
I am interested in purchasing a Silver Black Honda Unicorn. When I expressed my concerns that the only colour (on the -only- Honda Unicorn) available with the dealer was black, he said I could place an order with him for a silver coloured bike. However, I would have to pay an advance sum of upto 50% of the price (amounting to Rs. 33, 000). I have never heard of such practice ever before. All other dealers in Mumbai charge a sum of upto Rs.1, 000 for booking, the balance amount paid after the delivery.
The dealer anyways has lost a customer. Maybe even Honda. But pricing techniques like this are unethical and are to be checked.
