Charging Tax on Tax

On 12/9 few of my friends went to Rooftop Restaurant of Hotel Lindsay for dinner. But when we received the bill, we were just wondering by watching the bill patern--On Soda and Cocktail (Alcoholic) they had charged Sales Tax (The % of that charge was not mentioned and was illogical) first and after that they had again charged VAT (12.50%) on that!!

How somebody can charge tax on tax for food/alcohol??

We have the bill with us.

The mentioned item's prize was written in the menu card as Rs.140/-.So it is again difficult to understand that what kind of % they are adding in the name of Sales Tax!!!

At the time of payment, we did object to this issue. But they did not accept nor gave us any acceptable logic for their billing. They were just giving illogical reasons. Now in this process, they are not only harassed us, also they are earning so much illegal money in a very unethical way from every customer, which should be stopped.

Also we provide Debit Card, all their Card punching mechine was unworking condition. Anyhow we managed to pay the bill by cash. But it should not happen to that category Star resturant. Somebody can come only based on Card to pay the bill & i think they will face the harassment ridiculuosly again.

This thing should be sorted ou immediately for safty of all customers.
