Laptop warranty

I am vaibhav garg. i have a compaq laptop. right now it is in a warranty period. my laptop keypad has problem.i went to the hp service center ghaziabad for this problem.that day they had commited to change my key pad within two days .but after two days when i went to recieve my laptop that day they said that we can not change free you have to pay for it . so if i will pay him then what is the warranty over here? why they had make fake commitment .this is their duty to provide me any type of service or hadware facilities withiin warranty period.
