LETTERS/BILLS AFTER CANCELLATION

HSBC Credit Card No 4384 5999 9888 7318 was cleared of all outstandings and cancelled in Oct' 08, on receipt of a statement of accounts in Feb' 09, which was only charging for the renewal fees, HSBC call center was contacted on 22/2/09, the person manning the call center once again confirmed the cancellation and asked me to ignore the statement of account.
Inspite of this I continue to get monthly bills and for the last months I have also recieved letters asking me to pay the outstanding or else serious action would be taken.
I am unable to understand what does HSBC require.
