Finance Charges

Dear SIr,

My self Vija Mane is using HSBC Credit card no 4384 5999 1200 3802 from last five years. In month of July i had not received the statement and because of that i was not able to make the paymet for the same card.and this goes outstanding for the month of Aug. Mean while i called up to HSBC customer care no and asked them about the outstanding amount and process the payment. But when i receive the statement for the month of Aug.there are some finance charges applied nearely RS.800/- and get informed that this charges are on the basis of 3% of current purchase.

When i request to HSBC executive then he just simply denied the things and thretened me that if i dont make the payment then i need to face the legal action.

Now wha I need to do? wether I should make the full payment or only purchase. plz guide. and also about wether i should use the same card or not?
