Motherboard Failure

Hi, I am Sanjoy. I bought a HTC Touch phone from M/s- J.R'S.Cell Point, Guwahati on May 6. Phone was working really good when i bought it. Exactly on Aug 12 my phone was totally dead (means mobile dont get charged and dont even get switch on). Then I went to the service center Apace Solutions -Guwahati and they told me the motherboard had gone and it will cost above Rs10000 to repair it. I was shocked when i heard it, since because my hand set price amount is Rs.10500.

How can a phone go dead exactly after the waranty period? I dont know what to do in this regards. I need someone to help me in getting the repairing from the HTC Touch company.
