To,
The Manager,
ICICI Bank
Sir,
I, Lakshmi Priya, wo Mr Srihari, deputy chief news coordinator, Sakshi TV, Hyderabad, am an ICICI credit card holder (No> 4076 5905 6968 8006) since 2006 and my total dues on the afore mentioned credit card stood at Rs 71, 000 by May. I also submit that I have never defaulted payments and have been making payments through the local credit card agent.
Recently, I had decided to avail the One-time settlement facility to clear the dues and had approached the ICICI credit card branch located at Nampally. The staff at the Nampally branch informed me that one-time settlement of dues was currently not possible and advised me to wait for sometime.
Meanwhile, I began getting calls from Chenni and an employee of your organisation, who identified herself as Ms Surekha, informed me that the bank was willing to offer a one-time settlement for Rs 52, 000. As I was indisposed, I could not take any decision on payment.
In the meantime, I received another call from another person, who identified as Ajay. Between May 10 and 11, he called me and told me that the bank would settle the account if I paid Rs 40000 in two instalments of Rs 20000 each. He also offered to continue the credit card account as usual if I made the payments.
Accordingly, I paid Rs 20000 towards the first instalment through ICICI agent Mr Ahmed. This transaction as effected through the Axis Bank. However, I received a bill from the ICICI, Chennia. To my surprise, I found that the settlement for Rs 40000 as suggested by Mr Ajay was simply not reflected in the bill. It asked me to pay the remainder ie., Rs 53, 000. I, then decided to seek clarification from Ajay and tried to call him up at Phone No: 044- 66391067. Though Mr Ajay himself gave this number as his contact, I found that he was evading a reply.
Then I approached Mr Ahmed, who in turn, contacted Ms Surekha. Surekha told Mr Ahmed that no one by name Ajay was working in ICICI, Chennai. She later admitted that the caller was not Ajay, but Venkatesh. During the course of this conversation, I also managed to secure Surekha’s mobile phone number (NO 99402-13991). Later, I came to know through Ahmed that Ajay alias Venkatesh picked up an argument with Surekha as to why his identity was revealed to me.
What pained me most was the questionable methods being adopted by the bank to collect dues from credit card holders. While I do admit that I have a responsibility to repay the debt, I was shocked at the dubious methods of your staff members.
The following are my charges against staff of icici :
• Resorting to unethical practices to collect instalments
• Giving out false information to the customers by using fake identities
• Duping the customers by backtracking on the assurance given on one-time settlement
• Subjecting me to great mental agony by calling up me repeatedly during the period of my indisposition.
• Forfeiting the credibility and the reputation of the esteemed bank.
I, therefore, demand that Venkatesh and Surekha, who resorted to unfair practices, be removed from their duties forthwith and action be initiated against them.
Thanking u sir,
