Useless call centers

In Dec 08 I changed my company and I wanted to update communication address to receive saving account / credit card / demat statements.
When I happen to be in Aundh Pune branch for other reason, I enquired about address change, and the answer was 'You call to Call center'. Its surprising that the customer is in branch and bank staff can do the changes and still I have been asked to 'Call Centers'.
Now who ever connected with ICICI bank knows how long s/he has to keep dialing the number, and if luckly you get connected then have to press only numbers and numbers. All this is bullsheet and nothing but a waste of time.
I never undrestand whether ICICI wanted to cut down customer response time or offload their staff workload. Both purpose are not at all resolved and the customer staisfaction index is touching to low.
Compratively in case of HDFC, the person attended the call and finished the task just in 2 minutes. Where as in case of ICICI it is just luck to get any executive on phone line.
The issues are as ..
1] Useless call center mechanism.
2] Purposeful avoidence to customer by keeping them in to the puzzle of IVRS system.
3] No co-operation / response in any branch
4] charges and money extortion from account holder / card holder for any and any reason by saying service charges.
The old Sahukar raj was good as compared to this well organized exrtorting ICICI bank.
Now I decided to close my Saving account, dispose 2 credit cards, Demat account and shifting to HDFC, Union Bank and ING Vyasya.
I must say how long ICICI will survive, if they loose customer focus. Already ICICI tested down turn in single day. Still they are not learning from the past.
