Issue with redemption of reward points

Dear Sir,

This is with respect to my ICICI Kingfisher credit card

On 13th December I had redeemed my reward points online through www.icicibank.com and ordered for NOKIA E61I phone and a soft toy which said there was no additional cost attached to that. I redeemed the points of 3500 for NOKIA E61I phone and 438 point for soft toy. When I was ordering there were no charges were mentioned on the website as mentioned for the other products like Panasonic cordless phone (Reward points Rs 1150/-), Philips mp3 player (500 points Rs 2260/-) etc. So I went ahead and ordered the items with reference to the Order number is 367115. After which I had taken a screen shot of the item selection page, with respect E61i for 3500 points on the same day after submission of the request.

Later on Monday 17th December 07, I viewed my statement where I was charged Rs.16200 as redemption charges. As I had no clue as to why it was charged. Immediately I called the Customer Care the lady verified the same and said that the amount was charged against the Phone. Which was no where mentioned that it will be charged while redeeming the reward points? I explained the lady with whatever happened and she accepted that the fault was on ICICI and unfortunately the system shut down and she was unable to get the complete details and asked me to call her back in 15 mins. I once again called the Call Centre at noon and the same problem was discussed with their executives and the person did not understand the issue and suggested me to cancel the gifts. She raised the service request for cancelling the gifts w.r.t service request no SR48629156. But on the Monday evening I received only NOKIA E61i phone thru blue dart courier and no clue about the soft toy which I order for 438 points. The fault is on ICICI on the same evening in the Customer login under redeem online page for the same Nokia E61i the points have been changed to 30500 still you can find the similar items like Canon digi cam for 3500 points and the newly added Canon digi cam for 30500. I noticed the changes of the same have been made on 17th December evening. So when I raised the request the points were 3500 and later it has been changed to 30500.

So it clearly states that ICICI bank has not properly defined the item lists in the website and it shows the poor maintenance of its web site. I am also attaching the snap shots for your reference. This has been taken on Thursday after redemption and the snapshot taken on 17th Monday. I expect ICICI Bank to follow the ethics of Business as mentioned in the website. I hope you have understood the problem with respect to this.

Kindly look in to the issue and let me know what went wrong and if the mistake is on ICICI bank, then ICICI bank should bearer the cost of mistake and get the things rectified. I don’t want to be a scape goat for yours faults. I hope you would take the necessary actions for my request at the earliest. Please ensure to repay my money back immediately. If the same is not done I am planning to raise this issue to the Consumer Forum. I have attached the snapshots kindly get back to me at the earliest with a solution.
