Income Tax Refiund not received for the past three financial years

Hi,

I would like to bring to your notice that I haven't received the tax refund owed to me by the Income tax department for the past three years. I was sent an Income Tax Refund order by State Bank of India stating that a tax refund of Rs 1320.00 for the assessment year had been credited to my account on 20/09. However, my Citibank account never showed this amount.

Moreover, the number provided on the refund order only showed "0124-2". The rest of the digits were missing. I was able to locate after doing a search on the net. It called that number (0124- 2438000). They person suggested me a very lengthy procedure which involved first finding out where my employer had submitted the tax, going to that branch and submitting an application along with a copy of various documents. This would not only cost me more money than what the refund amount actually is plus the running around and loss of time.

I haven't even heard anything about the tax refund for the next two financial years and the refund amount that I should receive is much more than this.

Please suggest.
