Non honouring of Gift Vouchers

I have 2 gift vouchers of Rs. 501 each issued on 7th November valid for 1 year from date of issue. Today i had gone to purchase at the store and the gift voucher was declined saying that they are not accepting the vouchers issued before 31 december '07.They claim to have put up a notice across the mall on 1st August '08 asking people to redeem the vouchers in 30 days. No one was ready to hand me the copy of the notice. Sale and Discount notifications are sent on email and sms but why wasnt this notice sent through email?

Please advise what do I do about it?
