Credit Card not except by the petrol pump swap machine

My Father Name is Ishwar Singh and card no is 4317-5757-0962-2246. He was going to deheradun in 31/01 by car and fill the petrol in andrewsganj petrol pump & giving credit card for payment but the pump boy swap the card in machine but the machine not print the paper so he said the credit company will not except the card so pay cash money. so he was feel very bad & pay cash money.

Please find out the problem? & sand me the answer why he face this problem otherwise we cancel this card.
