Non payment of MIS deposit

I am keeping deposit of rs. 3 lacs with Krishnapuram colony Post office at Madurai. Tamilnadu. Account No 7271`3. It has matured for payment on 26.12.08. I have duly signed the withdrawal form authorising tpayment to my daughterinlaw by cheque drawn in my favour. The present post master by innocence or intentionally refuses to process the same, insisting me to comeover in person. Due to family reasons, I am out of town for next 4 months. I will stand to lose interest and I am denied opportunity to invest in schemes which give better return today [like city union bank which gives 11.5 interest]. Interest rate may be redueced by bank next month or at the time of my return. Will the dept compensate me for wrongful denial of payment on flimsy reasons.
