Eservation for senior citizen faulty in indian railways

DEAR SIRS

We are senior citizen, myself 64 and wife 62.We have been making reservations well in advance about 6-8 nweeks ahead of date of journey.

During this year i have made at least 6 no of resrvations in AC Sleeper (3 AC) and 2 AC but for some reason, always alloted middle or upper bearths, in spite of our prefrence for lower bearths.

It is too difficult for aged ladies and myself to get to the UPPER BEARTHS looking into our age and physical condition.

Recently, on 21.11.09, we travelled from New Delhi to Allahabad in coach no B1 of Prayag Raj exp, but in spite of making reservation on 14.10.09, again we were alloted seat no 61 (Mid upper) and 64 (side upper).

While for return journey on 29.11.09 by the same train, in A1 coach, PNR no 2165328380, dt of reservation 14 .10.09, again to our dismay, we were alloted bearth no 04 (upper) and 06 (side upper), while lower bearths were alloted to so many younger pasengers.

It is very clear that when we made reservation one and a half months back, so many lower bearths were vacant, otherwise no 04 nad 06 would have not been allotted.

FROM THE ABOVE, IT APPEARS THAT INDIAN RAILWAYS DO NOT GIVE ANY PREFERENCE TO SENIOR CITIZENS IN SEAT ALLOTMENT.

MAY WE REQUEST MINISTER OF RAILWAYS TO KINDLY ENSURE THAT THE SENIOR CITIZENS ARE ALLOTED LOWER BEARTHS AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.
