Battery Issue in Dell D630

We purchased 12 Dell Latitude D630 Models in 2008 and the batteries of those laptops are gone completly dead, some were over heated and when we called Dell support they enquired and found that the batteries are not in warrently. So just after their warrenties expired those 12 laptops batteries are not of any use. We purchased it for Rs.60, 000 each and

This is where the quality is being compromised, some even got the crack in their body due to over heating.

Dell states that as these are not under warrenty so they cannot replace them and the behaviour is normal. My quesgtion to them is if i purchase a car and the manufacture state that the warrently is 1 year, will that mean that the car will be unusable after the warrently expired.
