Jamia Co-Operative Bank
Bank returning the cheque after 18 months

Miscellaneous

Dear Sir/Madam

I had submitted two cheque for clearance into my Jamia Co-Operative Bank, Abul Fazl, New-Delhi -110025 branch in January. Both the cheques were A/C payee. On my visit to the bank on 5/09 the bank returned these cheques saying it could not be cleared due to an error in the name written on the cheques. During the span of 18 months the bank never informed us about the error and kept these cheques with themselves though we had visited the bank many times for transactions.

I want to know what are my legal rights in this case, secondly can the bank keep such cheques with them without informing its customers about the issues. Do they not have the responsibility to inform their customers about any transactional problems?

Please Help
