Unnecessary charge on service

Sir,

I have a compaq laptop whose warranty was extended by the company by one year. During this period, my laptop developed the same problem twice. Both times the service centre charged me for the repairs Now when I gained knowledge about this warranty, I told my service centre about the warranty. They told me that they were also unaware of the warranty and so refused to refund my money. Sir, isn't it the responsibility of the service centre to be aware of this things? And what should I do now?
