Over-charging

Through this communication i want to bring to the notice of the concerned authorities that taxi drivers in mumbai especially at peak locations like tilak nagar railway station are in the habit of overcharging by tampering the new electronic meters.

the new electronic meters are not easy to understand.

i belive it has some adjustments to show night and day charges seperately.

many times i have been forced to pay fare much higher then normal.

these cabs are equipped with electronic meters and also a printer to issue receipts.

but these drivers never issue receipts.

i have earlier complained about this but has fallen to deaf ears.

just day before yesterday that is 5th of august i had hired a cab from tilak nagar upto dockyard road.

the driver charged Rs.264 as against normal charge of near about RS.150.

i was surprised to see the meter displayed such heavy fare.

many times these drivers keep the meter running even before a passenger hires cab.

in the haste of getting home as soon as possible i dont see whether has has started the meter.

many of the drivers dont keep the meter visible. they cover it with some cloth so as not to be seen.

the taxi no that i am complaining of is MHO3 AT340. The time was near about 9:30 in the morning and dropping time was near about 10:00 in the morning.

please take action against these anti social elements.

i am sure they are into constant habit of looting even more to passengers who are new to mumbai.
