Charging Delayed Payment withou any Reason

I am a customer of Mahanagar Gas Ltd in Mumbai, and has regularly paid their bills.

I had received the excess bill for the month of February from Mahanagar Gas Ltd for about 2500/-. Immediately I placed the complaint through phone to their customer service. There after I received the revised bill of Rs 256.00 for February with a due date of 24-02.

I made the payment via cheque dated 12-02 well in advance of the due date. The cheque was cleared on 08-03. The reason for delay at Mahanagar Gas Ltd is unknown.

I was been informed on phone that total of 1856.00 is due and will charge the delayed payment charges as the cheque has been cleared after due date. There after placed a written complaint to Mahanagar Gas Ltd, and continuously following up on emails for clarification of arrears and waiver of delayed payment charges.

Recently I have received the bill for month of March with the arrears of 1856.00 with the delayed payment charges of Rs 139.18.

For no fault of mine Mahanagar Gas Ltd is charging me delayed payment charges and is not clarifying the reason for such a huge arrears.
