Dear Sir,

I have appliced for change of my address in the PAN details and I found that my documents have been rejected/treated invalid for the cause that my name does not match the name in the proof that I have given.

I have submitted my Ration card as my address and ID proof. My mother is the head of the family and My name is mentioned as "S. Navaneetha Krishnan" in it. As per the IT PAN card applications rule, an applicant cannot provide Initials in the application form. However, it is irritating to note that my application has been treated as invalid stating "Proof of Communication Address does not contain last name in expanded form as mentioned in application" and "Name in Proof of Identity does not contain last name in expanded form as mentioned in application.". This I feel is a Harassment Tactic, than a genuine requirement.

When I took it up with the customer services in NSDL and the Aayakar sampark Kendra explaining that it is customary in our region that we do not carry any Surname or Family names and we are used to only the initials, I am told that initials are not supposed to be added. However, I have sighted that and this was the reason why I have expanded the initial while sumbitting my documents along with the proof of my ID. Whereas, my Name is "Navaneethakrishnan" and "S" here stands for my father's Name is "Santhanam". Hence, I have submitted my name in expanded format as required by the Income tax authorities as "Navaneethakrishnan Santhanam", as I cannot use any Initials.

Here even after providing such clear evidence and explanations, I am told that I need a Surname(?) and my name has to match with the ID proof submitted(?). My logical contention is my name is "Navaneethakrishnan. S" and all my relevant documents will have only this name as for the Identity proof or name in proof which IT authorities need.

The stand that I have is, as I already have my PAN Card where my name has been accepted as "S. NAVANEETHAKRISHNAN" for which while I had applied in how can the IT authorities or the PAN card application/updating authorities say that my documents are invalid? My contention is, I have submitted the appropriate documents needed and I have no other document where my name would be mentioned as "Navaneethakrishnan Santhanam".

I have sent and e-mail to the Aaykar sampark Kendra at their e-mail address ask@incometaxindia.gov.in, seeking an explanation as to why the documents submitted earlier while aplying for my PAN card was accepted and a PAN card was issued to me, whereas I have followed the same procedure to update my recent change in address has resulted in so much confusion?

Moreover, the call centre personnel at your Aaykar Sampark Kendra lack the professional diligence while addressing the concern of a aggreived applicant. Even after sighting the my reasons to justify the documents that I have submitted is correct. I was provoked by them to use the words "HARASMENT TACTIC OF THE IT AUTHORITIES" in the e-mail sent to them. Even the greivences online helpline of the IT authorities, "SPARSH", is not working appropriately.

I request the concerned authorities in the Consumer forum to address this issue to the IT authorities.
