2009 BT Mobile Draw Fake SMS

Dear sir,

I've recieved a msg on 24th Aug regarding that my mobile had won a prize money of US$ 850, 000 and they asked me my details regarding my phonenumber, name address and age, do u think it's genuine and if it is just a fake report than what sort of action should be taken against these persons who misuse peoples innocense. How these people get the phone numbers and how can i make sure to avoid the same...
