Non acceptance of warranty card

Dear Sir/Madam

I had purchased a W230 basic handset from Croma - Mulund West Mumbai show room on 3/9/08 vide inv no 20438. The warranty card has been duly stamped with all relevant details.

The had set had developed a snag and I went to the Mulund West Motorola Service Centre near Croma show room. He informed me that I should produce the bill/invoice as Company has instructed him to accept complaints only if the bill is produced. Warranty card with duly stamped and signed is not acceptable.

I spoke to your call centre who also repeated the same instructions given by you. I also understood from the call centre discussion that to avoid fake claims by service centres, they have been instructed to produce the bills.

Although the warranty card says that I should produce copy of receipt or other comparable proof of purchase, is the warranty card itself a comparable proof of purchase? If the warranty card is of no use for servicing, why do you misguide the consumer by way of stamping & signing the warranty card?

In this day of thermal paper printing of invoices, in which the prints does not last long, how do we preserve it?

Why should an internal process like remunerating service partners by keeping bills as a proof be passed on to consumers?

Finally I am amazed to find the warranty card provided by the company of no use and the company does not honour the warranty!!!

Please let me know what should I do?? I need to find a solution either from you or from any suitable & competant personnel.

FYI, the Mulund west service provider is kind enough to repair my mobile. He has informed me that he gets lots of such complaints.
