Unable to block my hadset using the IMEI no

Hello Everyone,

My Motorola handset was stolen from Andheri Station, on 26th Nov. I immediately registered a complaint in Andheri Police Station and also blocked my SIM card by calling my service provider (Airtel). But when I requested motorola people to block my handset using IMEI no, I got a response that only my service provider can block my cell phone and hence they cant help me anymore. Then I requested my service provider to lock my phone, but the also responded the same way saying that only motorola can block my handset. Now I am in a very confusing situation. Pls find any solution for the problem, as neither Motorola nor Airtel is helping me in this.
