Replacement for Battery

I purchased a battery for my YASHICA Electra35 camera on 2/6 from the shop. Due to camera failure, I did not use the battery and approached the shopkeeper with battery in sealed cover as purchased for return or exchange with another item. But the shopkeeper blankly refused with remarks that there was no warranty for battery. I told that I did not open the cover and only wanted a replacement and no money return. But the shopkeeper paid no heed and refused. Earlier no cash memo was given to me either for the purchase. I had purchansed A Battery, A set of chargeable batteries, O film roll and 2 Mini DVs on that occasion.
