Overheats and shuts down suddenly

This laptop is 2 years old and overheats and shuts down suddenly! Tried using a cooling fan. Technician in IT dept. worked on it numerous times--cleaning vents for dust, deleted and reinstalled entire desktop... it spent more time in the shop than at home the past 6 months. Nothing helped. It continued to shut off suddenly, even after 10 minutes of use. Seemed better when not plugged in while using it. VERY FRUSTRATING! Ended up dumping it for a new laptop... NOT AN ACER!! (which sits in its case collecting dust.) I have read complaint after complaint of this nature and am wondering why ACER does not resolve this issue and recall these models?!
