Delay of passport verification

Am dinakar I have applied for passport on last month 12th and I have not yet received any verification from the police station or any kind of rectifications regarding my passport and I am totally confused regarding the status of my passport since the persons applied after me got their passports last week of Saturday may I know the delay for my passport or the rules is varying for different passport office.

I need my passport for overseas educational trip in January sir plz kindly help me regarding the matter of concern..
