Unjustified Rent

I had an Airtel Internet connection. I asked for a yly bill as against the mthy. During the period the service was very poor hence requested to convert into mthy or disconnect the service. They disconnected the service & now after 6 months they are asking us to pay rent for the entire yr for the service we have not used, They are telling that as per policy we are suppose to pay for the yr & if we disconnect no refund. Require your help in knowing whether actually we are suppose to pay for the yr for the service we have not used. We are being harassed with legal notice.
