Not using but still charged

I have taken airtel connection with no.9704004959 only recently. hardly i used it for 1 month but due to some reasons i stopped using it. i paid Rs.500/- against the bill of Rs.470/- in the month of Feb '08. the same time i told the airtel executive to cancel my no. because i am not using it. but they sent a bill for Rs.1379.02 as on 7.4.2008. had they told in feb '08 that they want a written request for cancellation of connection, i could have given it. DO YOU THINK IT PROPER TO CHAGE RENT EVEN AFTER MY REQUEST TO CANCEL? Please do the needful and cancel the bill immediately. Otherwise i may be constrained to go to a proper forum for justice.
