Airtel Broadband download discrepancy

I have been using the Airtel Broadband services for about 6 months now. Recently, I had got my plan changed to 2GB download limit, 512 KBPS to 4GB download limit and 4 MBPS. After doing this, they calculated my bill for the present month using the pro-rata basis (as they say). Now they have messed with the amount of download and upload I did during my usage. The explanation they the technical deptt gave me was that I had downloaded more than 7GBs and each extra GB costs to about Rs 1000!!! So, my bill comes to whooping Rs 6746 now, instead of Rs 1000.
I am using the softwares which record the amount of download and upload I do whenever I start my connection. The actual usage I see is about 4.8 GB. Now they are not accepting and giving their own false explanations.
I know that Airtel is pretty bad in the regard and they are at the top in doing the discrepancies in the billing (you can very well see from this forum, "Stay away Airtel (2252)"). I have my friends who have gone through a lot of pain, but it came with me this time. I plan to get this connection disconnected and go for some other service provider. I would recommend everyone never to buy any Airtel service.
But I would anyway get this settled, either with them, or legal!
