Dear Mr. Chairman,

It is not very important to act upon the contents of this letter. That is because things like the ones that I am putting up with keep on happening every day and people keep on suffering every day. But it is my belief that the consumer, the customer deserves to be attended to and that faith makes me write to you.

My name is P.N.Nagri. I am a Chief Manager of a public sector Bank and have recently taken over at Bangalore. I am placed at MG Road which is the business HUB of the city. I applied for a Mobile connection to BSNL and after due verification of my official status, my residential address and my PAN card I was issued a connection by them which is running currently.

I experienced some connectivity problems and therefore my son advised me to take an Airtel Connection. Therefore on 30th Oct I purchased one post paid connection and I was issued a receipt and a SIM Card. I was asked to fill up a few forms which I did. Along with the form I handed over a photograph, a copy of my PAN card and a copy of the BSNL Mobile bill (As my residential proof). At that point of time it was thought that the documents are enough to suffice my requirement of eligibility for the connection.

The SIM card was activated by your company and I circulated this number to whole of KARNATAKA, MY Head Office, My clients, my Vendors my Family and my relations. The connection worked for a few days and then abruptly my connection was kept in a state of suspension for a few days and thereafter all services stand terminated. An SMS was received which stated that the forms filled in are inadequate and now I should contact a dealer fill in the forms so that my connection is restored.

My humble point is :

If I was not eligible for the connection and if my documents were not adequate why at all I was issued a SIM card.

Why was the SIM Card activated if papers were not in order?

And why the service was terminated abruptly?

Issuing the SIM Card, Activating it and charging me for the services are reasons enough to understand that you have entered in to a service contract which you have to perform. You can not issue a SIM card, activate it and then terminate it at your will. If this is how you run your business then you have to decide

Are you really making the living of people convenient or difficult?

On 05.11.2008 I wrote a letter to your office at Sarjapur Marthahali at Bangalore. This letter was written by me because my mails were not responded. Instead an SMS was sent stating the same old story.

Now abruptly your people sent a mail to my wife telling her all details and telling her that she should submit documents at the dealer point (COPY OF MAIL IS ENCLOSED). I really do not know how they got her mail ID, her office address at VARANASI U.P. and her mobile No. of BSNL UP Circle. I also do not know what was the purpose of their sending a mail to her when she had no business with this transaction.

Does your company spy upon the personal lives of the family of your customers? Are you as a matter of business ethics collecting such information on your customers? I believe this needs to be investigated at a different level. I am only putting up this detail here because I want to know the truth. Your people have stated in the mail that they have done so under orders from TRAI.I will in due course contact them also. But in the mean time I thought I must find out the truth from you. On this account also I sent you a mail which though acknowledged still remains unreplied.

Since I am working for a Bank I know what is the meaning of KYC norms. I also know whose duty it is to take care of these norms. Should any kind of norms be used as a weapon for dislodging the peaceful existence of a customer the Norm and the system requires to be referred to the regulatory authority which I surely will do.

It does not matter; I will do without an Airtel connection. It does not matter my Bank can think of scrapping the corporate tie ups we have or it may not be thought of, is really not bothering me. What is my concern is only this that why should this not be told to the general public of INDIA and why should this not be reported to all types of Media. I am feeling scared after all the spying and peeping in to the personal life of my family and why should a criminal report not be filed?

For this I needed to inform you. As a law abiding citizen I am only giving you fair chances to tell me as to why should all that is stated above be not done against you. Why should it all not be on NET.

Thanks for being a great company. But of course you are selling everything excepting convenience.
