Airtel Prepaid
Illegal Charges to My Pre-paid Account!

The concern mobile number is 9958703551. I have not used this number since September last year as I have been oversees. However, on returning back to India, I was surprised to note that its balance has gone down substantially. Further, on recharging this number, I got two SMS informing me that my account has been charged for Rs. 30 each for Voice Chats and Hello Tunes! Surprised, I called 121 number, I learned that Airtel has been charging me for these services since May 12! A total of Rs. 160 has been illegally deducted from this number! Details are below per Airtel rep:

12/5/9: Rs. 30 Hello Tunes

12/5/9: Rs. 30 Voice Chats

11/6/9: Rs. 30: Hello Tunes

28/6/9: Rs. 10 Voice Chats

03/8/9: Rs. 30: Voice Chats (after my recharging on returning back from oversees)

04/8/9: Rs. 30 Hello Tunes (after my recharging on returning back from oversees)

I suspect there was no deduction in July because Airtel has run down my balance to almost nil!

My complaint numbers with dates are:

My Case is as follows:

I NEVER activated these premium services from my end. In fact, I can prove in a court of law that I was in U.S. since late September until 1/8/9. Moreover, Airtel should easily see from my account history that I have never used this line during this period.

I believe this may be a corporate technique to increase the usage of their premium services whereby such services are activated without the consent of the respective consumers. THIS IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL.

Others with Prepaid service from Airtel should watch their balance carefully!

PS: I have called them several times, with a promise that these complaints will be resolved in the next 48 hours!
