DD Cancellation Charge

Dear Sir

On 15.06.09 I have purchased 2 demand draf No 008604 for Rs 5000/- on ICFAI University, Tripura payable at Hyderabad & DD No 008605 for Rs 7500/- on Alphia Institute of Business Management, payable at Kolkata, from State Bank of India, Bikash Bhawan Branch, Salt Lake, Kolkata 700 091 (Branch code- 0/07816 - VOIP 500666)

Due to some emergency, we need to get it cancelled. when I gone the the branch for cancellation of dd, first of all they refuse to entertain my case. Then they call me to come next day. After that they charged Rs 200/- towards cancellation of above mentioned demand draft.

My question is at the time of issueing the said Demand Draft, you have charged Rs 30/- for each DD, then why the cancellation charege is too high. Even of that they refuse to issue receipt against cancellation charge deducted.

You are requested to look into this mater & restrict all the branch for unnecessary harrasement to common people.
