Compsny denying PF amount payment

Hi, I worked in an organisation for ~5 months. After joining the current organisation, I applied for withdrawal of the accumulated amount I contributed towards my PF account. Surprised to get a letter from my previous organisation which states that, since my tenure in the organisation is less that 6 months, I'm not eligibale for PF amount and I would not get any PF amount!!

Kindlyt advise if this is correct. I respect the law & would go by it.
