Lost consignment

I Bought some items from US online for Rs 9300. They shipped it through USPS and it reached cochin on 19.12.11. I was informed on 03.01.12 that the box had reached my postoffice empty. They just informed that they dont even have any paperwork to give me and there is nothing they can do.
