Issuance of copy of birth certificate
Delay & hassels in issuance of birth ceritificate

I went to many bmc offices in mumbai. My birth place is Kanjurmarg but I was born in Byculla hospital.

After going around Kanjurmarg ward, Mulund ward I came to know they need HP no so I went to find that out to Byculla ward. After a lot of fight I got an hp no but the page on which the information fo transfer of my birth certificate was noted was half torn. So they mentioned the hp number and said our duties are over. You go back to Kanjurmarg ward.

Kanjurmag ward people said we dont process any birth ceritificates before year 1979.

Go to Mulund I went there and they said they cannot find the record despite providing my brith date, place of birth and hospital of birth.

I am completely frustrated and want to know whom to report this incidence and also need to know how to get the copy of my birth certificate.

They are making me hunt my record by visiting their several times. They have not even taken my application form for a duplicate copy of my birth certificate. Its really a pity that common man has to go through same misery even after independance. Only rulers have changed but there is no centralization of records and nobody knows from where to get teh birth ceritifcate sanctioned. online website of bmc has tons fo information but there is no downloadable application form. It will take only 10 to 20 days to transfer all old records into a centralized computer system but nobody wants to get it done. Everybody wants to delay the process. India is a horrible country to be born in.
