SUB STANDARD PADDY/RICE

Karnataka Food & Civil Supplies Corporation has procured paddy under Minimum Support Price Operations and stored the same in M/S Suraksha Warehousing Corporation. Majority of the paddy is of substandard quality - below stipulated Fair Average Quality - fungus affected, with all sorts of foreign matter, dust, mud, weewills, germs, worms etc. The same would yield rice which will be unfit for human consumption.

The paddy with such dust and mud with fungus particles, if given for hulling, will affect the health of the workers and the residents in the neighborhood of the processing unit.

The stocks are stored in godowns which are very unscientifically constructed - with no proper arrangements to fumigate and safeguard the foodgrains from rains and other natural calamities.

Hence in the interest of the consumers of such foodgrains - mainly Below Povert Line - and in the interest of the labourers and the people in the neighborhood of the Rice Mills, and to protect the Governement money, we urge you to inquire into the irregularities.
