Delay in issuing passport

Sub: Procedural Delay in issuing Passport for renewal (Nagpur Police)

Sir,

1. Please refer to my passport file number A/005925 date of submission 12 Dec 11 and its Police related verification submission.

2. I'm a serving officer posted to Jammu & Kahsmir (Srinagar) since last year Nov. My passport is due to expire in Jun 12 and I

had submitted an application for renewing the same in Dec last year to Nagpur Passport office.

3. I would like to highlight few anomalies and a lackadaisical attitude of the Nagpur Police (both CID for confirming verification and the Sonegaon Police Station), since it has been more than the prescribed time period of 3 weeks for police verification after having paid the CID department their offered due of Rs200/- by my father, Dr RS Madame, on 4 May 12. Today he again went to the department for asking whether the police verification was forwarded or not to the passport office and had to return back and was told that the file is on the officer's table.

4. May I submit this grievance asking the State Police Department that it has been five months since Dec 12 that I'm waiting for my passport confirmation and renewal, which is the primary responsibility of the State as it is they who have prescribed the period of 10 years for renewal and for which I have made several visits, while I visit my hometown on leave, and my father, who is a senior citizen and unable to move around much. Is this what we get for being sincere to our duty in the services when it was stated categorically to the Police authorities that I have to be on my duty while they forward my renewal form back home.

5. Sir, I'm totally traumatized by this callous response by the State Police Department which has targeted the services people and are methodically delaying, which it seems is purposeful, the 'verification' certificate.

6. Beyond this I don't have any option but to file a legal complaint against the Police department since it has been over 5 months of delay which seems quite abnormal and delayed. Although, doing so would give a wrong impression since there already is so much in-fighting between the government departments in India, but, I'm now left with no other option.

7. Please take cognizance of this request and intimate the State Police authorities to forward the required document to Nagpur Passport Office for renewal of my Passport at the earliest please.
