Late delivery of application form

I had booked a courier with On-dot Couriers and Cargos bearing AWB no.614330767 on Sep30 which contained my application for appearing in MDS PG exam of AIIMS which had last date of Oct05. On tracking the consignment it said it reached Delhi on Oct01 with some branch of On-dot couriers and the same has been returned to my place having comments that not signed by addressee on Oct 06. AIIMS people said they have returned it because it got delivered after last date but I want to know why On-dot couriers kept it with them for 4 days and delivered it on 6th? I had already dropped 2 years preparing for PG exam and now one more year would be wasted on account of On-dot courier's mistake because AIIMS is not ready to accept my application. Kindly help so that 1 important year of my life and all the effort I have put in does not get wasted. Please.
