Fraudulent courier company

My friend had couriered an item on 10th November from the Vile Parle (West) branch of the courier service Overnite Express Limited. After a couple of days I thought of calling up the Mumbai office in order to inquire about the status. Initially they said it would reach me soon but after repeated calls, to my shock, the person on the call said they had lost track of the courier and probably it had been stolen.

I asked for the contact number of his higher authority in order to get to the depth of the matter. He gave me the number of someone called 'Bala'. Expecting support at the other end, I was literally pulled out of my slumber when this guy Bala shamelessly uttered 'We transport lakhs of items everyday, if one of them is lost somewhere we can't to much about it. At max we can give you the refund for the item'. With such arrogant and casual words flowing, its anybody's guess whether the parcel has actually been lost or has been intentionally messed up by the company for petite gains. If not anything else, this person's lack of empathy and overly rude behavior would only fuel more and more suspicions.
